How to Play Fortnite Without Xbox Live Gold
Do You Need Xbox Live Gold to Play Fortnite?
Fortnite players looking to try the game out on their Xbox platforms can use this guide to find out if Xbox Live Gold is needed to play.
Fortnite is a household name; it's a game that millions of people play and easily accessible for many reasons. However, what makes Fortnite the most accessible is that it's available to anyone at no charge. It's a free-to-play game with microtransactions that are simply cosmetic, meaning that all players have the same advantage over one another, no matter if a player puts in some extra cash.
Even though several free-to-play games exist, such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Rocket League, some gamers still need to pay for an online subscription to their console/platform of choice, such as PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold. For Xbox players, at least, they used to have to pay for Xbox Live Gold before jumping into Fortnite, but that isn't the case anymore, as of earlier this year.
Xbox players can play Fortnite without being subscribed to Xbox Live Gold. That means that players can hop right into some matches soon after cresting an Epic account without having to jump through any paywalls or hoops. With Fortnite having a couple of different game modes and new seasonal content every single week, it's a game that's chock-full of content for players that are looking for an enjoyable gaming experience at no cost at all.
The game is especially great for children, as fans can usually play it on a mobile device like smartphones or tablets. But Fortnite was removed from the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store just last year, and there's no word on when it'll be coming back to the digital storefronts.
Fortnite is currently in its sixth season, which is Primal-themed. The season is set to come to an end on June 7, 2021, and season seven will commence. The theme of season seven has to be officially revealed, but Epic Games has been teasing aliens and UFOs recently, leading people to believe that the next season will be themed around that.
Some players have been begun to get abducted by aliens that are flying around the Fortnite map. A glowing green light in the sky means that they're close, and if players get taken, they'll be transported to a random location on the map with their health and shields maxed out for some reason.
Fortnite is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
